Two Flowers

This is one of Lisa’s earliest explorations of charcoal as a medium. She enjoyed expressing these flowers in the style of a black and white photograph. The background was colored entirely in black charcoal while reserving the white space for the flowers and the vase. Shading for the flowers and vases were carefully added subsequently to preserve the white for the highlights.
